Stephen V. Miller is Managing Partner at McDermott, Quilty & Miller LLP, Boston, and concentrates in government affairs and business strategies; telecommunications, land use, zoning, and licensing law; and commercial and real estate litigation. He has successfully represented numerous clients in all sectors of the alcoholic beverages and hospitality industries, including wholesalers, suppliers, and on-premise and off-premise licensees, before municipal state and federal administrative authorities.
Stephen is a former assistant attorney general for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, serving under Francis X. Bellotti, and has owned and operated several successful and well-known restaurants and entertainment facilities in Boston.
Stephen has co-chaired the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education bi-annual seminar “Alcohol, Food and Entertainment Licensing” since 1999. He co-edited in 2006 a book for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education entitled “Alcohol, Food Service and Entertainment Licensing.”
Stephen has been a speaker and panel moderator for numerous industry conferences including regional and national meetings of the National Conference of State Liquor Administrators.
He is also a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Membership Committee for the Massachusetts Restaurant Association, and its former Vice President. Stephen is a member of the Massachusetts Bar and received his B.A. from Assumption College and his J.D. from Boston College.
